As we know mythological stories often are passed down through generations and might have some historical or cultural significance to these stories.
These stories provide insights in the beliefs and values of a particular culture or community.
As it goes Khait Parwat also known as “The Land of Fairies” located in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and is at an altitude of about 10,000 ft. above sea level.
Khait Parvat can be reached from Musankiri village after a 5km trek, and Musankiri village is about 25 km away from Ghansali. Khait Parvat offers a beautiful views of Mandar Valley and some Himalayan ranges.
It’s believed that even today there is an invisible power of the nine sisters also known as pariyas (fairies) who inhabit the nine ranges of Khait Parvat. These fairies are believed to be of enchanting beauty and can bring anyone in their control with their mesmerising beauty. The locals strictly follow the rules of not playing any kind of loud music or wearing bright colours when you visit this valley.
The stories of fairies attract many tourist every year who come here to seek the truth but in turn get lost in the beauty of this valley. Khait Parvat is known as The Fairy Land and very similar to the stories that we heard in our childhood, this place is just way too beautiful, just like the fairies living here.
Many people also believe that these fairies reside in this mountain and people worship them as goddesses. These fairies protect the village and the belief remains the same even today. There is a temple at a distance of 5 km from Thaat village the Khait Khal temple, which is believed to be the centre of mysterious powers.

Itinerary we suggest to reach Khait Parvat:
- Day 1: Haridwar to Thaat Village.
- Day 2: Trek to Khait Parvat (6kms) – Spend some time in the valley – Return back to Thaat Village
- Day 3: Thaat Village to Haridwar drop via Tehri Dam
If you are lucky you will be picked up by the fairies on the Day 2 of our itinerary, if you are unlucky we will pick you up after your unsuccessful mission of Finding Fairies. HA HA HA!
